Non-USD formats are converted to USD on import. The converted representation is what Gantry edits and exports.

Texture Formats
Section titled “Texture Formats”The following image formats are supported for material textures:
- PNG (.png)
- JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg)
- TIFF (.tiff, .tif)
- HEIC (.heic)
- AVIF (.avif)
- BMP (.bmp)
When exporting for RealityKit, Gantry can convert textures to KTX2 with GPU-compressed ASTC encoding using Apple Texture Converter. KTX2 is optimised for runtime loading on Apple hardware and significantly reduces GPU memory usage. See Optimizing Textures for details.
